Re: Have we re-started?

Hi Jeff,

The web site has been newly dusted off and updated by Bill. There are plenty of issues there. I think the next step is to select a subset of them for the first round of discussions and votes. I will propose a set over the weekend. We also need to review the voting rules, etc.

Greetings!

Just my periodic ping to see where we are on re-starting this process (it's now been a few months since the Euro PVM/MPI meeting...).

Hi Jeff,

The original mailing list has been cleaned up, but we haven't revamped the web page yet. This got sidetracked during the annual Supercomputing rush, and we expect to get it ready in January. We realize that we are a bit behind where we intended to be.

How are we doing on this? It's been about 2 months with almost no updates. Can we start advertising this list? Do you need help in getting together the information / putting together the web page?

Thanks!

Hi Jeff,

You haven't missed anything YET. It took a couple of iterations to bring the mailing list up to date. I attach it below. It contains new people who requested to be added, new addresses for old people who have moved, at least electronically, and some people who may be inactive but at least their email addresses still work (not many of these). All addresses below are valid. I was pleased at how many people from the original mpi-21 list responded that they wanted to participate in the revived effort. It may not have everyone who was at the meeting in Bonn and would like to participate. I would like to advertise the list at least to everyone who was at EuroPVMMPI if it is convenient for Jesper and Josef to supply such a list.

Bill is now getting a web page together for this effort, that will be separate from, although pointed to by, the mpi-forum web page. It will help us pick up where we left off, which was with a number of discussions on various items, with the goal of getting a new version of the MPI-2 standard document that includes all the errata and a number of clarifications, both currently under discussion and newly suggested.

Stay tuned; this will be showing up shortly.

Greetings all.

Have we re-started this process? I haven't seen any mail beyond Bill/Rusty's initial "Howdy!" e-mails. :-)
