Mercury Computer Systems is the largest vendor
of embedded, highly parallel computer systems (for
awhile we were the only vendor). We have more than
30,000 units installed worldwide.
Our customers want to port applications between our
systems and systems from some of our emerging
competitors. We don't mind.
Mercury believes very strongly in open systems.
Our open systems investments to date have centered
on standards emerging from the POSIX real-time and VSO
committees.
However, some of Mercury's potential competitors are
emerging from the scientific community. They evangelize
a different collection of standards (MPI, HPF, PVM, etc.).
We will implement whatever standards a significant
number of our customers request. We believe MPI
Real-Time may fall into this catagory. Therefore,
we plan to participate in the MPI Real-Time committee.
