the information that a cancellation completed is not returned by the cancel
operation -- it is returned by the status when the user executes a wait or
test. Therefore, I fail to ss why cancel_fn should retunr any information
on "succesful cancelation". We do provide a machanism to se the
"cancelled" bit in a status.
