I agree to Raja and Marc.
Bringing back the handlers with a different semantics in
no-thread environments is the way to go.
With that, the second GR proposal can be dismissed.
(I still think "complete_fn" in the first GR proposal can be dropped).

I failed to see, however, why "no limitations on functions" is
possible in no-thread environments. Is a handler allowed to block by
calling, say, UNIX select() syscall?
