Is anyone working on (or have) a modest implementation of
MPI_GET_CHAR_DATA_TYPE() ?? [see section 3.4 of MPI2 proposal (10/95)]

I would like to use this for a 3rd-party datatype instantiation
prototype presentation at the July MPI meeting.
